Based upon the themes in Prospero’s Book of Water, this island parti embodies the water cycle. Circulation stems from a dock jutting in the sea and leads to the cabin at the island’s highest peak. A bathhouse and a lap pool occur halfway along the route in a weaker display pushing towards the sea. The cabin, based upon Adalberto Libera’s Casa Malaparte, creates a direct relationship between the roof and ground planes, turning a corner about the peak of the landscape and the original hearth of Casa Malaparte. The sleeping and dining spaces for the author and his assistant are located at a lower elevation, once again utilizing the roof plane as ground.
